Why should you donate to my fundraising efforts for Pawmetto Lifeline (PL)? Well, for one, they basically saved my life. While I was a doctoral student, things got rough. It is through volunteering at PL that I found light in my life again. I met my best friend and pup child, Romeo, and was able to foster several dogs that went on to find great homes quickly with PL partner shelters in the US. I helped a hospice foster cross the Rainbow Bridge from the comfort of home and not of a sterile metal cage in a noisy environment. That was one of the toughest foster experiences I had. I was fortunate enough to have spent time volunteering with PL in other capacities. During that time, I saw first-hand how every single person who works there is dedicated to the well-being of animals and the community. Because of this, I would only trust Romeo to their daycare/boarding. And when it was time to move to Atlanta, and I knew I eventually wanted another dog, I had to make a tough decision. I could either wait to get the dog when I moved to Atlanta (probably the smart thing to do) or I could get Romeo a sister from the place I loved and trusted and kind of thought of like family. So, you guessed it...that's where Rosily came from! Now, I have 2 happy dogs who love to play with each other. Even though I don't live in SC any longer, I still feel it is necessary to raise funds for this organization. They do SO much more than most shelters. (And yes, I have donated to the nonprofit shelters in ATL, too). The pandemic hit everyone hard. Non-profits took an especially hard hit. PL helped families before the pandemic to be able to keep their pets and this is more important now. So, even if you can only afford to donate $1, those dollars add up and will save lives. Please donate what you can and not anything outside of your means. If you want to make a small money donation (under $5), let me know and send it to me via Venmo. I will then make a final donation in the sum of all the little donations the day before the event. 

These are some of their programs that your donation will help support:

• Foster Program: With support of fosters, PL can save so many more animals since their facility is space-restricted. Fosters are provided medical care, food and other supplies paid for by PL
• Spay/Neuter Clinic: helps reduce the pet population by offering affordable, high-quality services.
• Wellness Program: offering a wide range of affordable, high-quality veterinary services
• Community Cat Program: Community cats are trapped, neutered, vaccinated, ear-tipped (the universal symbol for a sterilized cat), and then returned to their outdoor home.
• Care-A-Van: provides mobile vaccine services to pet owners at a low-cost to keep their dogs and cats healthy.
• HEART (Helping Every Animal Reach Tomorrow): Every day a representative from PL photographs pets scheduled for euthanasia and promotes them to rescue groups across the country. Currently, PL has over 175 rescue partners that have helped to save more than 5,000 pets from Midlands municipal shelters.
• Pet Soup: This is an emergency resource to provide pet food to needy families so they can keep their pets instead of adding to the homeless pet population.
