Each year in our community over 17,000 dogs and cats enter our local municipal shelter systems. Each year over 11,000 of those same animals are euthanized due to lack of space, time and resources. The taxpayers in our community spend over $2.5 million each year to pick up, house and euthanize these animals, most of whom are healthy, adoptable pets.  There is another way, a more responsible, more humane solution to this issue. Pawmetto Lifeline, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit animal rescue organization, located right here in Columbia is using national best practice models to end the issue of pet overpopulation and ultimately the use of euthanasia as our only practical means of animal control. They have the solution and we are here to help.
