Hi!! My name is Mary and I recently became a volunteer at Pawmetto Lifeline! I have loved animals my entire life, but since adopting my Pitbull Mix, Stella, in October 2019, that love has been heightened and has inspired me to become more involved in rescue work.
My boyfriend and I adopted Stella from Kershaw County Humane Society. After I locked eyes with her for the first time, I knew I couldn't leave her there. She had a lot of scars and looked so sad. She was the only dog in the room not barking and going crazy, but when you went up to her kennel, she rolled over on her back for a belly rub. After seeing her scars, it was clear that she'd had a bad past and I was determined to show her the love she most likely had never received before. After talking with the kennel workers, they confirmed that because of her breed she would stay in the shelter at least twice as long as other breeds, and that just broke my heart even more. After a couple of days of discussion, my boyfriend and I decided to adopt her...and it was the best decision we've ever made!
She is the sweetest dog we've ever met; she is goofy and loving, and keeps us on our toes! Ever since I became her "dog mom", I've been dedicated to helping with the rescuing of animals and advocating for bully breeds. This is why I started volunteering for Pawmetto Lifeline through Give A Dog A Bone @ USC, and is why I am participating in Bark to the Park!
Thank you for reading and thank you so much for any donations you decide to make!
